Some investors allow originators to submit VA loans via DO/DU Express (check with your investor directly to see whether or not they accept government loans). Desktop Underwriter® requires additional information for VA loans in the DO/DU Express data entry section.
The two data entry sections that require specific VA loan data are: Loan Type Information and VA Information.
In the Loan Type Information section, select VA as the type of Mortgage Applied For. Click Show Detail to display fields required for VA submissions.

Steps 2 - 11 refer to the VA Information Section
Agency Case #: Optional. Enter the VA guaranty number.
Entitlement Amount: Enter the dollar amount guaranteed by the VA to the veteran borrower from the Certificate of Eligibility.
Co-Borrower Married to Primary Borrower: Indicate if the co-borrower is married to the primary borrower.
Energy Efficient New Home: Select Yes if the Appraiser stated that the subject property complies with energy efficient standards. Otherwise, select No. This usually applies to new construction.
Property County: Select the subject property county from the list. If the county name is not listed, select ALL OTHERS.
Monthly MCC: Enter the amount from the Mortgage Credit Certificate. Desktop Underwriter® will add the amount of the MCC to the residual income subject to the limits.
Monthly Maintenance: Enter the estimated dollar amount of the monthly maintenance. This amount is on the VA Loan Analysis #19.
Monthly Utilities: Enter the estimated dollar amount of the monthly utilities expense (including heat). This amount is on the VA Loan Analysis #20.
Seller Concessions: Enter the amount over the 4% of reasonable and customary contributions for a VA loan, or an outright concession.
Type of Refinance: Select Full Documentation or Interest Rate Reduction Refinance.
CAIVR Number: Not required for origination (getting the AU decision), but required for the final 1003. Enter the CAIVR number for each borrower.
Total Tax Deductions: Enter the TOTAL DEDUCTIONS (Federal, State, Retirement/Social Security, or Other) from the VA Loan Analysis form #37.
