Export Loan Data | Formatting Tips | Download Loan back into Byte

Create a loan by exporting your Byte loan data and uploading it to eMagic. You may also update loan data in Byte with changes made on the site.

Export Your Loan Data

Use this option if you want to Browse for the file from an eMagic site.

  1. Open the borrower file. Click to select Communications, Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter, and then click Manual Export.

  2. Click to highlight Export Fannie Mae File and click Select Interface. Choose file version 3.0 or 3.2. Create file.

  3. Your file will be downloaded to a temporary directory (this location is chosen by Byte, you will not be able to choose where your file will be saved). Make sure to write down this location.

  4. Main Menu > Origination Tab > Upload Loan.
    (Lender site: Main Menu > Upload/Key in New Loans)

  5. Click Browse.

  6. Locate your saved loan file and click Open.

  7. Either Order Credit right away or go directly to the Loan Folder.

Loan Data Formatting Tips

  • Enter entire loan before submission
  • Remember to save your work!
  • Enter Dates in mm/dd/yyyy format. All three pieces (Month/Day/Year) are required for correct DU findings.
  • Underwriting Selection Button
    • Open the Transmittal Summary 1008
    • Enter the appraised value
    • Verify property type information
    • Verify loan purpose
    • ARM Plan Numbers should be entered. From the Main Menu, click Communications, Fannie Mae Services, Desktop Originator. Choose the ARM Plan Code from the Fannie Mae ARM Plan Number drop-down list.

Download Loan File and Import Data into Byte

Update the original loan file in Byte with any loan data changes from the site.

  1. Locate the desired loan on the site (eMagic.com or an eMagic-hosted site).

  2. On the Loan Folder screen, in the Actions menu, click Export Data File.

  3. In Internet Explorer, the File Download box will appear. Click Save. (The downloaded file format will match the last file you uploaded - DU 3.2 or 3.0 data file format.)

  4. The Save As dialog box will appear. Select the appropriate directory and click Save.

  5. Minimize the browser and open ByteClassic.

  6. On the Main Menu, select Files, New, and click New Loan File.

  7. On the New File screen, select Fannie Mae File from the Import Source drop-down list.

  8. The Select Fannie Mae File screen will appear. (If this screen does not appear automatically, click Browse...) Select the file you downloaded and click Open.
