Import from ACT | Import from Outlook 2000/2003 | Import from Outlook Express

Import client and personal contacts into eMagic's Contact Manager.

Import Client Contacts

  1. Select Import Contacts from the Contacts drop-down menu.

  2. Import your contacts.

A. Select the program your list is from. Contacts can be imported from ACT, Outlook 2000/2003 or Outlook Express.

To import from ACT:
  1. Open ACT.

  2. Select File > Data Exchange > Export

  3. Select File Type "Text-Delimited." Enter a filename. Click Next.

  4. Select "Contact records only." Click "Options."

  5. Select "comma" for the field separator. Check "Yes, export field names." Click "OK" and "Next."

  6. Select "All records." Click "Next."

  7. Leave the default settings on the last screen and click "Finish."

To import from Outlook 2000/2003:
  1. Open Outlook.

  2. Select File > Import and Export.

  3. Select "Export to a file." Click "Next."

  4. Select "Comma Separated Values (Windows)." Click "Next."

  5. Choose the "Contacts" folder.

  6. Choose a filename. Click "Next."

  7. Confirm that you are exporting your contacts and click "Finish."

To import from Outlook Express:
  1. Open Outlook Express.

  2. Select File > Export > Address Book.

  3. Select "Text File (Comma Separated Values)." Click "Export."

  4. Choose a filename.

  5. Select all fields to export and click "Finish".

B. Click Browse to locate the file. Note: the file type must be .csv and must contain the following headers:

Outlook: First Name - Middle Name - Last Name - Job Title - Business Phone - Home Phone - Mobile Phone - Other Phone - Business Fax - Email Address - Email 2 Address - Company - Business Street - Business City - Business State - Business Postal code - Home Street - Home City - Home State - Home Postal Code

ACT!: First Name - Last Name - Title - Birth Date - Phone - Home Phone - Mobile Phone - Alternate Phone - Fax - Email - Company - Address 1 - City - State - Zip Code - Home Address 1 - Home City - Home State - Zip Code

C. Select how the duplicate records should be processed.

D. Click Import Contacts. A message will indicate the number of successfully uploaded contacts.
